Reverend Vernon Horace Peters is a devoted servant-leader whose life and work span the fields of healthcare, ministry, and community empowerment. A gifted pastor, teacher, and administrator, he is widely respected for his humility and his exceptional ability to bring people together in faith and fellowship. His ministry is grounded in unity, spiritual growth, and glorifying God through service.

Answering the call to ministry, Reverend Peters was ordained as an Itinerant Deacon and later an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. He furthered his theological education at Drew University, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree with honors, concentrating in Biblical Studies.

Reverend Peters is a graduate of Lehman College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management. Prior to entering full-time ministry, he faithfully served for over 25 years as a Nurse Manager in the Department of Nursing at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, exemplifying compassion, resilience, and strong leadership, qualities that continue to shape his ministry today.

Over the course of his pastoral journey, Reverend Peters has served several congregations, including St. Mark A.M.E. Church in East Orange, New Jersey, Heard A.M.E. Church in Roselle, New Jersey, and Union A.M.E. Church in Warwick, New York. While in Warwick, he led a transformative effort in which a 100-year-old historic edifice was relocated and repurposed into an African American Museum. Under his leadership, the congregation also completed the construction of a new church edifice and a two-bedroom parsonage valued at approximately one million dollars.

Reverend Peters is also the Co-Founder of Covenant A.M.E. Church in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. His commitment to community extends far beyond the pulpit. He has served on the boards of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Albert Wisner Public Library and has been actively involved in the Ecumenical Council, the NAACP, the Pastors’ Caucus, and numerous civic and faith-based organizations.

A lifetime member of the New York Urban League, Reverend Peters is deeply passionate about equipping the next generation. He has led a job-readiness initiative co-sponsored by HSBC Bank, the New York City Urban League, and other partners, mentoring high school students and preparing them for success through training in professionalism, etiquette, and purpose-driven leadership.

He currently serves as Pastor of Allen Memorial A.M.E. Church in Brooklyn, New York, where he was appointed on April 27, 2014, and continues to lead with vision, integrity, and a heart for God’s people.

In his spare time, Reverend Peters enjoys golfing, traveling, and is an avid sports enthusiast.

He is married to Cheryl Patricia Browne-Peters, and together they are the proud parents of their daughter, Brittni Alicia.

Inspired by Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,” Reverend Peters continues to walk in purpose with unwavering faith, a servant’s heart, and a God-given vision, committed to strengthening the church, uplifting the community, and advancing the Kingdom of God with excellence and integrity.
